Skaffe.com Offers 1 Gigabyte Free E-Mail

This, along with the recent acquistion of Sporge.com, and the introduction of our hosting service at Skaffe2.com, will allow us to increase our vertical and hortizontal marketing efforts. As far as we know, we are the only directory on the Internet to provide a mail service with this size storage for free. A few search engines may, but no directories for serious researchers do at present. It is exciting to compete with them in this way.”

Skaffe Aquires Sporge

Skaffe.com Directory recently expanded their holdings by aquiring Sporge.com. I understand that editors will soon be able to edit there too. Should be interesting to see what develops.

I haven't posted in a while, but things are still moving over at Skaffe. I see Skampy the link checker was out and about. Nice to see a directory keeping things clean. I liked what Bruce did with WowDirectory and adding SkaffeLite to it as an alternate search. Nice move.

Job Interview

Had internal job interview yesterday. What a pain! I forgot what interviewing was like.

While it was successful, I did learn two things. 1.) I hate interviewing and 2.) that I should visit Skaffe's listings about interviewing before I interview to get some tips.

Day Off

Had to take a day off. My DSL is down today and dial up is way too slow. I can't help but admit that it is rather sad that my life is so affected by the to speed of my connection and the Internet.

Don't Promote!

Just a note to anyone reading this and thinking about applying to edit at Skaffe.

Don't put any promotional copy into your sample site descriptions. You will not be approved if you do this. Remember, the idea is to write an objective description. Saying, "We offer"..."Wide selection of"..."Great"...etc, is a sure way of getting declined.

Skaffe History

I got permission to post a site's (from Nels' site. Not Skaffe.) brief review of Skaffe's history from what he put together from watching the site and from the webmaster forums. Please find it quoted below:

"Skaffe - The International Directory is a volunteer-edited directory. Skaffe started just after Disney closed their volunteer directory at Go.com at the turn of the century. The directory started under" the name the community used at Go.com.

"In October 2003, the managing team decided to separate. The majority of the team, with owning rights to the database and the directory scripts, renamed the directory Skaffe.com. The original name was given to one of the parting owners.

Skaffe, in just a short time, progressed quickly with the additions of Spanish, Norwegian, and Russian versions of the directory. A ‘Lite’ version was developed for webmasters to use on their own sites through the use of frames."
